What is Cognitive Stimulation?
Much like exercise strengthens our bodies, cognitive stimulation is like exercise for our mind.
Through structured activities and conversations, we stimulate thinking skills not often used in everyday life.
Unlike Sudoku, crosswords or generic brain training, these activities are designed to stimulate areas of thinking commonly affected by dementia, including communication, attention, memory, planning and problem-solving.
Why I Created Connect at Home™
After running cognitive stimulation therapy groups, many families would ask what "magic" I was doing in the room.
They witnessed their person transition from being quiet and shy, to smiling, chatting and confident.
One lady told me her husband woke every morning asking:
"Is today a group day?"
I joked that it was lucky I had high doorframes because people walk in their usual height and leave over ten feet tall.

How Can We Create This at Home?
Families kept asking me the same question: "How can we create this at home?"
They loved seeing their person enjoy the group experience, but what they really wanted was a way to create those same moments of connection at home.
That's when Connect at Home™ was born.
Guided by The Connect Method®, it combines cognitive stimulation, neurorehabilitation principles and family-centred approaches into practical activities that support thinking, communication, and connection.
More importantly, it creates opportunities to spend quality time together, share stories, laughter and experiences, and focus on what remains possible.
“I've felt supported the whole time. Having it self-paced has been wonderful for us. We can fit the activities around our lives and do them when it suits us. [wife]
